What You'll Do:
As a Dining Room Manager, you will carry out our Mission of Love by ensuring the care of our residents is provided in a safe, caring, timely, and appropriate manner by maintaining the appropriate competencies and skills through continuing education that encompasses all these areas. This will include assisting our residents in reaching or attaining the highest potential in their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
You will assist the Assistant Dining Services Manager in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Dining Services Manager-RL, to provide a high level of hospitality services to our residents and guests. Administrate, plan, supervise and coordinate the dining services activities in Retirement Living restaurants, cafes, and retail outlets. Coordinate and manage special banquets/ functions, and Liquor management. Maintain Food Services' systems such as resident comment data base, CardWatch POS, Resident billing system (MVP cards), and Computrition related process.
The Dining Room Manager is responsible for providing work schedules and assignments to a group of non-exempt employees or a small group of professionals.
Our Dining Room Manager is responsible for the following:
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations that pertain to food and nutritional care in a long-term care setting, and the Pennsylvania Liquor Law pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages. Knowledge of local, state, and federal sanitation regulation and HACCP guidelines and the ability to implement effective food safety programs, includes both sanitation and HACCP, in accordance with regulatory guidelines
- Knowledge of style of dining services and quality of food preparation, banquet management, effectively integrating appropriate services to each dining area and function.

- Proficient in managing proper inventory and ordering of non-food supplies used in the Food Services Department.
- Develops written objectives and short and long-term goals for the Restaurant at Grand Lodge Hall and Pub to provide high quality service for the residents.
- Maintains prompt and courteous service, making adjustments following complaints
- Coordinate menu with Chef and responsible for developing menu format, printing, distribution, and marketing of menu's, chef's specials, and special events.
- Processes bi-weekly payroll.
- Evaluates employee work performance and recommends personnel actions such as commendations or disciplinary action to the Dining Services Manager and Assistant Director of Dining Services-RL. In the absence of the Dining Services Manager or Assistant Director of Dining Services RL all disciplinary action should be reviewed by the Director of Food Services and/or Human Resources
- Maintains record of meals served to residents and visitors and record of cash operation.
- Orients new employees and instructs and trains them in work procedures which are essential for all food service operations. Arranges work schedules and assigns duties. Coordinates in-service and other meetings as required by the Masonic Village and Food Services Department and participates on committees as directed. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, and outside conferences. Provides in service training for dining room personnel and encourages personnel to participate in other educational programs.
- Maintain Food Services' systems such as resident comment data base, CardWatch, Resident billing system (MVP cards), and Computrition related process at Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.
- Develops annual operating and capital budget for dining areas for review by the Dining Services Manager.
What You Have:
- A bachelor's degree in hotel/hospitality management or equivalent, minimum of five years of supervisor experience in hospitality industry or completion of an approved training program to attain proficiency in developing and maintaining high quality of dining services with three years supervisory experience in managing an upscale dining environment preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication and proficient with computer applications
- CPR, RAMP certification required (prior to or upon employment). Strong knowledge of Pennsylvania Liquor Control board requirements.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures required.
