- Must have previous experience with PC-DMIS, RomerArm, Calypso or Polyworks
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
Position Summary:
- Level One: Inspects forged bars, rings and/or rough machined parts, to ensure conformance to specifications by assisting the Chief Inspector and performing the following duties under little supervision and training.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reads blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain product information such as specified material, surface finish, and dimensions.
- Compares surface finish of workpiece to finish on set of standard blocks making fingertip touch comparison to ensure production of specified surface finish.
- Measures dimensions such as length, height, and distance, between reference points to ensure product meets specifications.
- Locates reference point on part and measures dimensions such as angle, arc, and radii.
- Reports findings to Inspection Supervisor and, if necessary, write Inspection Deviation Report (IDR) if parts are not in conformance.
- Sets up and tries out inspection equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Substitutes known values such as dimensions from blueprints into standard formulas and solves for unknown quantities to determine dimensions not specified in blueprints.
- Sets up portable CMM and related software. Performs acceptance tests and evaluations with this equipment.
- Uses forklifts and cranes to move heavy parts.
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
