Dimensional Engineer at Zipline International Inc.

Dimensional Engineer (Zipline International Inc, South San Francisco, CA): Develop Dimensional Build Objectives and establish critical assembly interfaces which will require tight tolerances to achieve Dimensional Build Objectives; Create the Dimensional Strategy for 200+ critical interfaces which includes assembly datum strategy, interface design, tolerance allocation, etc. and should align with the assembly and service process; Validate Dimensional Strategy by creating dimensional models using 1-Dimensional or 3-Dimensional Dimensional Variation Analysis software; Design Measurement Plans for 200+ critical In-Process Assemblies, including checking fixtures, measurement datum strategy, required inspection areas and process control tolerances; Create and review mechanical drawings which has accurate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for each critical interface across 800+ drawings; Quickly resolve dimensional issues during validation builds and tests, to ensure the aircraft level build objects can be met; Modify dimensional requirements for a variety of manufacturing processes to ensure critical assembly interfaces can be achieved; and Coach and mentor mechanical engineers on dimensioning strategies and fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing. Must have experience with the following in order to complete the above-mentioned tasks: Experience in GD&T Principles and ASME Y14.5-2009 GD&T Standard; Advanced with 1D Tolerance Analysis and 1D Tolerance Analysis software; Advanced with 3D Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) software with TeamCenter VisVSA; Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with experience in mechanical design; Experience with Siemens NX with hands on experience in 3D modeling, 2D Drafting, Motion Simulation; Strong experience working with a variety of manufacturing processes including Injection molding, composites, sheet metal and machining; Strong experience with design for Six Sigma and design for manufacturing; Strong experience with gauging and validating fixture design; and Experience with SPC data analysis, Root Cause Analysis and Dimensional Issue Resolution during prototype & production phase. Requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field and at least 1 year of experience as a Dimensional Engineer or similar occupation.
