Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Digital Technician to join our creative team at alice + olivia. In this hybrid role, you will serve as both the technical backbone and organizational expert for our digital assets. You'll work closely with the creative and marketing teams to ensure all digital content is captured, processed, and managed with the utmost quality, consistency, and efficiency. Your ability to balance technical expertise with creative sensibility will help elevate our visual assets to new heights, ensuring they align perfectly with our brand's unique aesthetic and standards.
As our Digital Technician + Asset Manager, you will ensure that all assets — from raw files to final product images — are properly ingested, processed, organized, and distributed for various platforms including e-commerce, social media, digital campaigns, and internal projects. You will be the key player in maintaining the integrity of our digital archive, providing seamless access to files for internal and external stakeholders, and managing the workflow to ensure optimal productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain a centralized digital asset library for all files, ensuring accurate metadata tagging and efficient organization of assets for easy access and retrieval.
- Oversee the ingestion of raw files from photo and video shoots and ensure proper backup and storage protocols are followed to preserve content.
- Ensure all image files are optimized for use across multiple digital platforms, including e-commerce, social media, marketing materials, and internal projects.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact during photo shoots, setting up and troubleshooting cameras, lighting equipment, and digital capture systems.
- Monitor image quality on set to ensure proper exposure, color balance, and file integrity (RAW file quality, resolution, etc.).
- Assist the photographer and creative team in selecting the best images for editing, ensuring proper color calibration and consistency across all assets.
- Manage image backups and post-shoot processing to prevent data loss and ensure images are properly archived.
- Oversee the editing workflow by working closely with the photo and design teams to ensure images meet brand standards and are delivered in the correct formats and resolutions.
- Coordinate with retouchers, editors, and third-party vendors when necessary to ensure timely and high-quality asset production.
- Ensure seamless distribution of final photography assets to internal teams and external partners in a timely manner.
- Manage quality control for assets being uploaded to e-commerce sites and ensure images display correctly across devices, maintaining high standards for both desktop and mobile formats.
- Perform routine audits of the digital asset library, ensuring consistency, version control, and proper access permissions.
- Work closely with the creative, production, and marketing teams to provide technical and organizational support for photography-related needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute shoot logistics, ensuring all technical and asset management needs are met.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends and technology in digital photography and asset management to keep processes efficient and the brand’s digital content cutting-edge.
- Oversee the inventory, organization, and maintenance of equipment, ensuring all gear is in working condition and properly stored.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in a digital technician or asset management role, preferably within a fashion, e-commerce, or editorial setting.
- Expertise in digital asset management systems (DAM), file storage protocols, and organizational best practices for large-scale media files.
- Proficiency in Mac Operating System, Capture One, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge).
- Solid understanding of digital photography workflows, file formats, and color management.
- Hands-on experience with digital photography equipment, including camera settings, lighting setups, and tethered shooting.
- Knowledge of photography and image quality control standards, particularly for e-commerce and editorial use.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly.
- A proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Willingness to work off-hours as needed to meet project deadlines and demands.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and move up to 49lbs and stand/walk during shifts up to 8-10 hours
$50,000 - $60,000 base salary (This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this NYC - based position. The base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other AO employees.)
