Position Summary
The Digital Marketing Student Worker will provide critical support to the Digital Marketing team’s primary goal for digital platforms: increase engagement and performance to inspire event registrations and charitable contributions to the University. This position will assist with the execution of successful events-based and solicitation marketing strategies, working collaboratively with the Digital Marketing team, the Marketing and Communications division, as well as partners throughout the Foundation and UConn.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Digital Marketing team with the management of the UConn Alumni social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Research current news and trends, gather and create content for each social platform.
- Seek out stories to share on various social channels that will encourage connections between members of the #UConnNation online community.
- Develop social content by pairing strong imagery with intriguing copy focused around calls to action.
- Utilize SproutSocial, Google Analytics, and native social reporting tools to pull campaign results, analyze data and prepare summaries and analysis.
- Create social graphics using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Assist in maintaining the Digital Marketing strategic plan.
- Other digital marketing tasks (social, email, web, etc.) as assigned.

Required Experience:

- A strong enthusiasm to learn about social media marketing, especially as it exists within a multichannel engagement strategy including web, email, print, etc.
- Awareness of current social media trends, ability to apply those trends in a brand-appropriate way.
- A flexible, adaptable, responsible self-starter and innovative thinker, with a strong eye for detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities—both technical and creative, as well as organizational and scheduling abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning donor related and other information.
Education and Experience
- Enrollment at the University of Connecticut
- A student in good standing related to grade point average and student code of conduct.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities—both technical and creative, as well as organizational and scheduling abilities.
- Familiar with Microsoft Excel basics.
- Experience with social media analytics tools (SproutSocial, Hootsuite, etc.) experience a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS a plus, but not required.
- Quantitative and analytical experience a plus, but not required.
- Fundraising experience a plus, but not required.
