Position Overview

A leading Hospital for Children is seeking an experienced pediatric Clinical Registered Dietitian (RD) to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for pediatric patients in the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive nutrition care, education, and guidance to patients and families, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Nutrition Assessment & Diagnosis
2. Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for pediatric patients.
3. Diagnose nutrition-related problems using the Nutrition Care Process.
4. Nutrition Intervention & Monitoring
5. Develop and implement targeted nutrition interventions.
6. Monitor and evaluate patients’ nutritional status and adjust care plans as needed.
7. Patient & Family Education
8. Educate patients and families on nutrition plans, ensuring thorough understanding of dietary guidelines and treatment objectives.
9. Provide resources and support to promote adherence to care plans.
10. Team Collaboration & Professional Development
11. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to establish and maintain comprehensive patient care plans.
12. Participate in ongoing education programs for hospital staff, community groups, parent groups, and professional organizations.
13. Performance Improvement & Research
14. Engage in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
15. Participate in research activities aimed at improving clinical nutrition practices within the hospital.

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Education & Credentials
2. Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited institution.
3. Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
4. Pennsylvania State Licensure (LDN) must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
5. Experience
6. Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian.
7. Pediatric clinical experience preferred (or strong interest in pediatrics).
8. Advanced Certification
9. Advanced degree or specialty certification (CSP, CNSC, CDE, CLC, CSO, IBCLC) required or to be obtained within 12 months of hire as approved by the Director of Clinical Nutrition.
10. Maintenance of Credentials
11. Must maintain all required credentials, professional development portfolio (PDP), and licensure in good standing.

13. Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients, parents, and staff.
