The RDN will also participate in health assessments, wellness presentations, and other program development and enhancement activities for the Department of Medicine and University. Overall the RDN will act as a wellness champion to instill a "culture of wellness." The RDN must be able to work efficiently in a highly personalized manner to facilitate lasting health behavior change among program participants. The RDN should possess strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with others as well as independently to complete tasks at hand. The incumbent reports to Weight Management Program Director and Medical Director. The incumbent will be responsible for protocols maintaining quality control procedures. Must be a registered dietitian.
The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) will provide coaching, counseling, and information/referral services to clients of the UC Irvine Health Weight Management Program. Clients may have one or more chronic health conditions in addition to overweight/obesity. The RDN will provide wellness/nutrition coaching and support to clients in order to reduce weight and medical risk factors while promoting healthy behaviors (weight loss, nutritional counseling, and physical activity). The RDN will assess participants' needs and readiness to change and work with the client to establish individual goals. The RDN may be required to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) interventions for disease management and weight management in both individual and group settings.
- Certificate in Weight Management Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition/Dietetics Required
- Completed American Dietetic Association internship Required
- Certified Diabetes Educator Preferred
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Required
- Masters In Nutrition Preferred
