Position Summary: Assists in planning, developing and managing daily food service operations ensuring compliance with all regulations that govern the industry and department in accordance with company policies and budgets.

5. Knows when to alert care staff or nurses to patient change in condition
Responsibilities:
1. Confers regularly with department manager, dietitians, and other leadership personnel updating on progress and reporting any problems facing safe food production
2. Assists in recruiting, hiring, orienting, training and scheduling of dietary staff members
3. Confirms approved menus and recipes are followed and meet established standards
4. Maintains supplies ensuring inventory of ingredients are fresh and available when needed and emergency menus and supplies are always on hand and rotated out before expiration
– this includes ordering, verifying deliveries, supervising storage, and recording and reporting on costs and approving/signing invoices
5. Ensures cleanliness and sanitation standards for all kitchen areas and equipment
6. Regularly tests/tastes and surveys patients to ensure food desires and satisfaction
7. Maintains updated patient food and nutritional records, with regular analysis of physician orders ensuring food and snacks are served as ordered and in the correct textures
8. Assists with new patient nutrition screening and profiles updating monthly, quarterly, at change of condition and as directed
9. Attends meetings as directed (Stand Up, IDT, etc.) to report on and discuss nutritional status patients and their concerns
10. Covers shifts for missing dietary workers and participates in calorie counts, test trays, tray line audits, meal acceptance questionnaires, etc.
11. Participates in state/federal surveys and/or inspections as directed
12. Other duties as assigned by Dietary Manager, Certified Dietician, and/or Administrator
