Job Summary: The Dietary Manager is responsible for overseeing the dietary department in a skilled nursing facility. This role involves planning and managing food service operations to ensure residents receive nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences. The Dietary Manager ensures compliance with health and safety regulations and works closely with other departments to support resident care.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and manage the dietary department, including meal planning, preparation, and service.
Develop and implement menus that meet residents’ nutritional needs and preferences.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including dietary guidelines and food safety standards.
Supervise, train, and evaluate dietary staff.
Monitor food inventory and order supplies as needed.
Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and dining areas to ensure cleanliness and safety.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized dietary plans for residents.
Address and resolve any dietary-related issues or complaints.
Maintain accurate records of dietary services, including resident dietary needs and preferences.
Manage the dietary department budget and resources.
Promote a positive dining experience for residents.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in dietetics, nutrition, or food service management is a plus.
Previous experience in a dietary management role, preferably in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations for dietary services in skilled nursing facilities.
Proficiency in dietary management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage and motivate a team.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
