Palos Heights Rehabilitation is a long-term/short-term skilled nursing facility located in a quiet neighborhood of Crestwood, Illinois. Named a 2020-2021 “Best Nursing Home” by U.S. News & World Report, with an overall 5 out of 5 star rating and a 3 out of 3 High Performance rating in both Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care! We have a great working atmosphere and teamwork.
We are currently hiring for the Cook position
· A Cook prepares and assists with food preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while following specific dietary restrictions and provides alternatives for our residents.
· The cooks are responsible for maintaining clean, organized and stocked workstations while keeping in compliance with federal and state regulations. It is the responsibility of a cook to successfully prepare and serve meals. Cooks also complete hands on training with new employees in accordance with the dietary department orientation training checklist.
· Some experience in institutional cooking preferred.
· Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation and hygienic methods a must.
· Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Sincere desire to work with elders and others who have a limited capacity for self-care.
· Mental & physical capacity to perform the essential job functions with or without accommodations.
· Work with and provides care to individuals of a wide range of personality types and maturity levels.
· The ability to demonstrate creative initiative and mature judgment in making competent decisions.
· Consistently maintain courteous, empathic, and professional attitude.
· Maintain confidentiality of all activities and persons.
· Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
· Communicate and comprehend orally and in writing to effectively receive and share information as necessary to perform job duties.
· Transportation accessible to enable flexibility of work schedule.
· Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
· Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
· Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures
· Food handler's license and Sanitation license preferred.
· Excellent attendance and punctuality is a must.
· This position is fast paced and physical. Whole shift minus break times are spent standing, walking, push/pulling carts etc..
· Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs.
· Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
