Dietary Aide, PT - The Hearthstone

Job Description

The Hearthstone is a retirement community on Green Lake, that provides a variety of services for our senior residents. We are currently recruiting for two part-time Dietary Aide.  

The first shift is a morning shift from 6am-10am, and you must have availability on weekdays and weekends. The second shift is the evening shift, 4-7:30pm, Wednesday–Saturday. There will be some flexibility for picking up extra shifts as needed. This would be a great opportunity for students or those looking to pick up a little extra money. 

The Dietary Aide prepares and helps serve side dishes and/or main dishes for Skilled Nursing residents, Assisted Living residents and food delivery to Independent residents to their apartments.

Previous food service experience is plus, but not required as we provide on-the-job training. Fluent English speaking and writing skills are required. Good time management skills, and appropriate appearance, speech, and behavior are also required for this position.

Experience: No experience necessary - will train on the job

Certificates and Licenses: WA Food Handler’s Card

Requirements:

• Clean/sanitize areas.
• Communicate changes.
• Handle diet orders in supervisor’s absence.
• Must be familiar with basic foods, temperature controls, and safe food handling practices.
• Must be able to distinguish portion sizes, likes and dislikes, and plate presentation.
• Must be able to distinguish correct diet specifications, and be able to read diet cards and interpret necessary restrictions, requirements, and allergies.
• Must report to work on time and know work schedule in advance.
• Complete all work by end of scheduled shift.
• Must understand and comply with the departmental policies and the overall policies and procedures of the Hearthstone.
• Must be able to follow directions during busy periods of meals.
• Must follow dress code and wear uniform as required, including restraining long hair in an acceptable manner.
• Be prepared to assist residents and respond to their special requests.
• Ability to communicate in English effectively with others.

Physical Requirements: 

• Prolonged periods walking, standing and reaching.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Environmental Conditions:

Working with efficiency in tight areas in dining room, kitchen, and dish-room areas, in a warm environment. 

Caution must be used for hazards like broken glass, open clan lids, hot foods and beverages, sharp knives, food spills or spills on floors.
