Position Overview:The Dietary Aide performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities, and equipment. The Aide also prepares and serves “heat and serve” meals and snacks.
Essential Job Functions:- Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures
- Sets up trays for meals
- Delivers and retrieves food to and from patient’s area
- Processes soiled trays, dishes and utensils through dishwasher
- Operates equipment in a safe manner
- Reports any discrepancies in his/her area to department supervisor
- Controls use of soap and cleaning agents in dishwasher
- Returns clean items to appropriate places
- Washes other food preparation equipment as necessary
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation through entire work areas
- Performs daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment
- Empties trash containers regularly
- Prepares snacks and beverages between-meal service to patients
- When needed, prepares nutritional supplements and tube feeding products and delivers to patient’s area
- Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department supervisor
- Puts Customer Service First: Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in an attentive and responsive atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights
- When standard providers aren’t able to supply food as needed, the Aide will pick up food from stores
- Maintain dietary storage areas in a neat and orderly manner according to established standards
- Other clerical duties as assigned
- Concierge services as assigned
- Travel to all facility locations as required
- Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Food Handler Safety Training Certificate, required
- Minimum of 2 years hospital food service, required
- Experience using dishwashing equipment is helpful
- Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication
