New England Homes for the Deaf, founded in 1901, is a life plan community that offers a continuum of care to Deaf, Deafblind, and hard of hearing seniors, including independent living, rest home, skilled nursing community, Deaf senior centers, short-term rehabilitation services, respite care services and hospice care. The New England Homes for the Deaf mission is to provide long term healthcare, housing, recreational activities and social support for Deaf, Deafblind and hard of hearing individuals in an accessible, barrier-free, and culturally sensitive environment with optimal communication and architectural resources.
Position Summary:
As a Dietary Aide you will provide nutritious meals for our Deaf and Deafblind residents in our long-term care, nursing facility. You will assist with the food preparation, setting tables, and sanitation of dishes. Helping to provide a safe healthy environment and excellent customer service, with clear understanding of sanitary procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Available to work the 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM shifts.
- Assist cooking staff with food preparation.
- Set tables and serve meals to residents.
- Rinse, scrape dishes immediately after use.
- Use 3-step dishwashing procedures as posted.
- Stack dishes/cups/glasses in dishwasher.
- Put away dishes.
- Wipe off all stainless-steel surfaces.
- Sweep dish room and wet mop entire kitchen.
- Deposit dishcloth and aprons in laundry room basket.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Clear understanding of sanitary codes.
- Knowledge of safety procedures.
- Ability to perform tasks as directed.
- Willingness to learn.

- All staff are required to take our free, on-site ASL and Deaf culture classes.
