JOB SUMMARY
Serves residents, guests, and visitors food in the full service “restaurant style” dining room in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility policies and as directed by the Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school education or equivalent
- Must possess current CPR certificate or become certified within 90 days of employment
- Experience to include waitress responsibilities or interest in the same.
- Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances
- warrant such actions that are in the best interest of the residents, staff and families.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel and the general public in a professional manner.
- Must possess ability and a willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must demonstrate the ability to handle confidential data with professional discretion.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, family members, personnel, and support agencies.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people.
- May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of fifty (50) pounds throughout the day
- Must be able to taste and smell food to determine quality and palatability.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the (HIV) AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follow established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress code.
- Report all concerns, complaints made by the resident or their family to the Hostess.
- Participate in in-service education programs and meetings.
- Orient new employees to the facility, his/her department, and its policies and procedures.
- ecommend to the Hostess the equipment and supply needs of the department.
- Maintain proper table and linen set-up of tables in full service dining rooms.
- Prepare plates, salads and desserts according to recipes and salad/dessert cycle menu in an attractive manner with use of garnishes at each meal.
- Prepare beverages (coffee, ice water, juices hot water for tea, lemonade, etc.) for service at each meal.
- Correctly serve resident in the full service dining room therapeutic diets per the menu extensions.
- Bus dishes from the tables after each meal, bring dishes to the kitchen to be washed and return them to the dining room for set up.
- Serve ice cream to residents, guests, visitors, and staff in the ice cream parlor.
- Serve appetizers, liquor, beer, and wine daily to the residents from the bar.
- Prepare popcorn daily and clean every evening according to established sanitary
- standards.
- Follow cleaning schedule assignments.
- O. Assist with food preparation, table set-up and food service during dinner shows and special functions.
- Prepares snacks as instructed per menu cycle.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
