About the Job
SUMMARY:
Our Mechanic Shop is currently seeking an experienced full-time diesel mechanic to maintain our level of commitment to the safety of our company drivers. In this role the successful candidate will perform tractor, trailer repairs and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards, run vehicle diagnostics and work closely with other team members to meet company goals.
**Responsibilities: **
- Perform air brake service and maintenance
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance including tire rotations, oil changes, transmission flushes, air conditioner re-charges, front end alignments, battery installations, headlight/taillight replacements
- Collaborate with shop Fleet Manager and repair team to diagnose vehicle issues and plan repairs
- Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks
- Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on fleet mechanical experience.
- Tractor and trailer experience desired
- Forklift repair knowledge desired.
- Must supply own mechanic hand tools for tractor/trailer repairs.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire to have a career path in Fleet and/or Maintenance Management.
- Basic welding skills desired (such as Oxy/Acetylene, MIG, and ARC).
- Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle air-conditioning systems
- Strong ability to self-manage, prioritize tasks and make decisions under pressure.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Excellent reading and writing skills.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current trucking industry best practices in automotive repair.
- Knowledge of diagnostic tools and equipment a must.
- Valid driver’s license to conduct road services when needed.
- Qualified candidates will have prior experience repairing forklifts or other industrial equipment.
- Nissan, Hyundai, Komatsu, Yale, CAT and other makes of lift trucks.
**Qualifications: **
- High School or equivalent, 3+ years of hands-on experience with diesel engines and hydraulics.
- Experience in latest electronically controlled machinery and heavy equipment.
- Able to fully comprehend hydraulic and electrical schematics with a history of successful troubleshooting and technical experience.
- Experience with diagnostic software.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and written in a service-oriented manner to fellow team members, vendors, and manufacturers for questions and support.
- Perform work in a safe and responsible manner.
