Diesel Technician - Cogent Analytics

Du??es & Responsibilities:

• Consulting the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required
• Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues
• Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
• Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
• Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts
• Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
• Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
• Completing oil changes, coolant service, AC evaluation, and brake checks
• Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
• Ensure the job area is organized and clean, including meeting necessary standards for waste disposal and environmental protection.

Job Requirements:

• At least 4 years of diesel or heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience. (Preferred)
• Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanisms of a diesel engine (Hi rail
• and hydraulic knowledge is Preferred)
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
• Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics (MaxxTraxx knowledge is
• preferred)
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic so??ware
• A valid driver's license (CDL strongly preferred)
• Good interpersonal skills
• Effective collaboration and communication skills
• Must furnish own tools.

Physical Requirements:

• Work inside an open floor plan shop
• Daily exposure to dirt, oils, smells, and sounds, related to standard mechanics' shop.
• Must be able to lift, handle, meet ladder safety requirements.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. regularly.
• Must be able to work at heights of 0-20 ft.
• Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, lay, climb, and li?? throughout each day.
• Required to stand, walk, and sit frequently. Required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch to access vehicle areas.
