Seeking an experienced Diesel Technician for a well-respected, local Truck and Equipment Sales and Service company. Qualified applicants understand the importance of doing a job correctly, have a desire to be a part of a team, and value customer satisfaction. Regular duties include basic diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned transportation equipment in the shop and service locations.
Diesel Technician Responsibilities:
- Performs basic diagnostics and both major and minor repairs.
- Accomplish electrical system repairs.
- Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
- Efficient worker able to deliver quality repairs in a timely fashion.
- Team player and people person who can communicate effectively with customers and personnel.
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly manner.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations while executing work assignments.
- Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
- Accounts for all time on a time card and for all material used in performing assigned duties.
Diesel Technician Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of Diesel Mechanic experience with brands such as: International, Volvo, Hino, Mack, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Cummins Engines, Detroit Diesel Motors.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical and electrical with the ability to learn multiple engines.
- Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions.
- Capable of operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift at least 100 lbs. repeatedly.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Basic Service Technician certification preferred.
- Highly qualified candidates may possess additional skills including welding, fabrication, towing experience, CDL, forklift certification.
