Job summary
This role will maintain/repair the trucks. They will do inspections, brakes, light repairs & maintenance. They will also learn how to replace/maintain the self driving systems (wiring harnesses, sensors, etc.).Responsibilities:
- Keep the autonomous truck fleet safe, operational, and reliable.
- Inspect and certify the operational health of truck and AV platforms by conducting routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Collaborate closely with Fleet Operations and respond to fleet blocking issues in a timely manner.
- Schedule preventative maintenance inspections and repairs with 3rd parties.
- Work cross functionally with Engineering & Hardware teams during vehicle intake, acceptance, and commissioning.
- Perform diagnostics using engine Original Equipment Manufacturer software or similar. (Cummins Insite, Diagnostic Link, Wabco Toolbox, Bendix, etc.).
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, optimize resource utilization, and increase overall efficiency in trucking operations through continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- A SAFETY FIRST MINDSET.
- Clear communication, attention to detail, consistent execution, and disciplined organization skills.
- experience as a service technician, diesel mechanic, or related mechanical technician; or have completed equivalent relevant vocational training.
- Diesel Truck Mechanic with OEM training and/or ASE certifications are preferred.
- Experience with diagnosing and repairing modern CAN bus-based automotive systems.
- Track, record, and follow up repair orders through the Fleet Maintenance system.
- Experience working in highly technical environments.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and traveling, if required.
- Previous Autonomous Vehicle experience.
- Functional Understanding of 49 CFR Parts 379, 390 & 396.
- Current CDL with a good standing driving record (Class A preferred).
- Experience with basic hardware networking .
- Experience with Linux / command line.
