Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience working on semi-trucks, diesel pickups, and various types of heavy equipment within a fleet. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on semi-trucks, diesel pickups, and other heavy equipment within the company fleet.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and experience.
- Troubleshoot and repair engine, transmission, suspension, braking, and other key systems of diesel vehicles and equipment.
- Perform inspections and ensure all vehicles and equipment meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
- Work closely with the fleet management team to schedule and prioritize service and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and maintain equipment uptime.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized shop environment.
Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with hands-on experience on semi-trucks, diesel pickups, and heavy equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience diagnosing diesel engine problems.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to read and understand service manuals and technical diagrams.
- Familiarity with electrical systems, fuel systems, and air systems of diesel engines.
- Ability to perform both minor and major repairs in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and at varying heights.
- Ability to kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.
