Position Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines and related systems in company vehicles, equipment, and machinery. This role requires a strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics, hydraulics, electrical systems, and safety protocols. The Diesel Mechanic will work closely with the Fleet Manager or Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that all equipment is in optimal working condition.

Essential Functions:
Diagnosis & Repair: Perform diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems to identify issues, and carry out repairs to restore equipment to full functionality.
Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular preventative maintenance on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspection of fuel, air, and oil systems.
Brake & Suspension Systems: Inspect, maintain, and repair brake systems, suspension, and steering components to ensure safe and reliable vehicle operation.
Electrical Systems: Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, starters, alternators, and lighting components.
Fuel Systems: Diagnose and repair fuel injection systems, fuel pumps, and related components to ensure efficient fuel delivery and engine performance.
Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in equipment and vehicles.
Equipment Operation: Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to perform tests and repairs on diesel engines and related systems.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE, maintaining a clean work environment, and adhering to OSHA regulations.
Other Functions:
Assist with the maintenance of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and job site evaluations as required.
Respond to emergency repair requests or breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; vocational training or certification in diesel mechanics preferred.
Valid Class A CDL preferred but not required at hire. Must be able to obtain Class A CDL License within 6 months of hire.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in Diesel Mechanics is an advantage.
Must pass a background check, MVR check, pre-employment drug screen, and physical examination.
Experience & Skills:
Experience with heavy equipment and fleet maintenance is a plus.
Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and repair techniques.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
