Your Role
As the Diesel Maintenance Manager, you will lead a critical function within Encore Fleet Services. Overseeing a fleet of more than 140 luxury coaches—with plans for significant growth in the coming years—you will manage the diesel technician team responsible for all maintenance and repair activities. You will play an instrumental role in orchestrating the team’s workflow, ensuring that our fleet runs with the same precision and reliability as military and aviation fleets, where mechanical failure and downtime are not options.
Your leadership will be vital in implementing and maintaining comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs, designed to identify and address potential issues before they become operational problems. You will ensure the team operates proactively, staying ahead of repairs and consistently delivering the reliability and performance our clients expect. This role will have a direct and measurable impact on Encore’s operational success, with your efforts ensuring that our fleet is always ready to serve.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the diesel technician team, ensuring high-quality, efficient maintenance and repair work.
- Preventative & Predictive Maintenance: Develop and oversee maintenance programs to proactively prevent breakdowns and ensure fleet reliability.
- Technical Expertise: Provide advanced troubleshooting and repair guidance for diesel engines, electrical systems, and other key components.
- Fleet Management: Coordinate daily operations, ensuring smooth workflows, proper resource allocation, and timely completion of tasks.
- Quality Control: Ensure all maintenance meets stringent standards, comparable to those in mission-critical industries like aviation or military fleets.
- Collaboration: Act as the communication link between the team and upper management, aligning shop operations with strategic goals.
- Safety & Training: Promote a culture of safety and lead ongoing training initiatives to enhance team skills and performance.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in diesel maintenance and repair, with extensive knowledge of Volvo diesel engines.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead the team through complex repairs.
- Experience implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs in environments where mechanical reliability is critical, ensuring minimized downtime and optimized fleet performance.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with luxury coaches or high-end vehicles.
- Proficiency in fleet management systems and advanced diagnostic tools.
