SUMMARY:
This position will challenge you to a variety of disciplines focused on vehicle calibration and engine control systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, plan and deliver Engine Calibration Development and Testing
- Conduct chassis/engine emission testing activities, including detailed analysis of test results
- Optimize calibrations to achieve tailpipe emissions, FE and drivability targets
- Prepare technical reports, papers and presentations
- Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams
- Ability to adapt, integrate and work well with others is essential
- Maintain a specialist working knowledge of new technologies as appropriate to the role
- Mentor junior engineers to assist in their technical career development
- Observe all safety rules and regulations
- Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around the work area
- Maintain awareness of and meet the requirements of the Company Quality System

REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in powertrain calibration development
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with diesel calibration development
- Detailed knowledge of internal combustion engines and testing techniques
- Experience with engine calibration and calibration tools
- Experience with tailpipe emissions testing and optimizing engine calibrations to meet legislative standards
- Knowledge of Engine Management Systems (EMS) principles including the use of calibration tools and processes
- Understanding of current powertrain control system architectures
- Experience working with OBD testing and calibration
- Knowledge of legislative requirements for OBD, exhaust and evaporative emissions
- Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints, as part of a team or individually
- Confidence to clearly communicate effectively at all levels
- Self-motivated with the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner with appropriate attention to detail
- Flexibility with working hours and willingness to travel to customer sites for both long and short durations (including secondments)
- Knowledge of script writing capabilities for data reduction and analysis
- Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink analysis and simulation packages
- Experience working with Ford processes and facilities is preferable
