Die Shop Supervisor

This position manages & schedules the Machine Shop for on time completion of all jobs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Troubleshoot daily production issues, process, and equipment; recommend and implement process/equipment efficiency and quality improvements.
- Schedule all Machine Shop Work: resinks, new dies, holding dies, new and reworked auxiliary equipment, maintenance machining.
- Review, analyse and enforce proper incentive time records.
- Update/Complete current resink list/hours, new die activity/hours, new auxiliary tooling work/hours.
- Maintain current die block/insert inventory, Machine Shop files and Die Shop/Die Storage Machinery.
- Supervise union personnel and Die Shop tractor driver.
- Assist the Purchasing department on the following: new die blocks, parts and service for all machine tools in the die shop/storage area, cutters and other miscellaneous items, all insert material.
- Monitor and report production; serve as a key driver for shift safety improvement.
- Provide direction and leadership to the production crew to accomplish organizational goals.
- Coordinate die changes and address daily production and quality concerns with staff and other production members.
- Communicate job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise job results.
- Maintains workflow by monitoring all steps of the process, observing control points and monitoring equipment and resources.
- Implement cost reductions, develop reporting procedures and systems; facilitate corrections to malfunctions within the production process control points; initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within the department.
- Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs and documenting listed items to be addressed.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist in implementing continuous improvement activities.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Bachelors Degree in related field or an applicable level of equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL
- Communication, Microsoft Office, CAD/CAM, Manage Union and Non-Union Personnel, Understanding of all manufacturing Process Equipment, Knowledge of Production Planning and Controls for Improvement, Refractory Experience a Plus.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 5-10 years related leadership experience in a manufacturing company overseeing a Machine Shop/Die Shop/ or Mold Shop.
MACHINES/EQUIPMENT/TOOLS/ SOFTWARE/USED:
- Computer; Software: MS O365, DAX, CAD/CAM.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Plant floor environment; Sitting for long periods of time while using a computer; Standing for long periods of time.
PHYSICAL/VISUAL ACTIVITIES
- Standing, Walking, Talking, Typing, Sitting, Visual Acuity, and Hearing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Hiring Companies ATS Questions):
1. Do you have a Bachelors Degree in related field or an applicable level of equivalent experience.
2. Do you have 5-10 years related leadership experience in a manufacturing company overseeing a Machine Shop/Die Shop/ or Mold Shop.
3. Do you have experience in using MS O365, DAX, CAD/CAM.
4. Do you have knowledge of Production Planning and Controls for Improvement, Refractory Experience a Plus.
5. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
