About the Job
As a member of the DFx (design for manufacturing) team, you will have a direct impact in creating solutions for complex problems that impact quality, cost, and delivery of future AR/VR products. You will define and implement best practices to meet the manufacturing challenges of our next generation of products. As a key member of the Technical Operations team, you will partner closely with cross functional teams (Hardware Engineering, Quality, Test, and Manufacturing Partners) to ensure designs are manufacturable from concept to high volume mass production.

RESPONSIBILITIES
DFx Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:
- Partner with cross functional teams to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges by following DFx best practices and principles.
- Conduct detailed CAD reviews to identify manufacturing pain points and design alternatives.
- Identify NTI (New Technology Introduction) manufacturing processes.
- Define manufacturing processes and equipment requirements at the factory.
- Provide direction, guidance, and support to other engineering groups and CM partners.
- Develop new and improved manufacturing methods through application of theoretical and practical engineering.
- Synthesizing complex data sets into actionable feedback and lessons learned.
- Drive all FATP line qualifications activities.
- Travel domestically and internationally.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years experience in mechanical product design and/or manufacturing
- Experience with mass production of hardware products or related experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
- Experience in consumer electronics.
- Advanced CAD Experience (NX Preferred).
- Experience understanding and challenging tolerance stackups to meet gap/step requirements.
- Working knowledge of GD&T.
- Knowledge of optical alignment and qualification procedures.
- Optical component and metrology experience.
- Experience working with overseas vendors.
- Six Sigma/DMAIC training.
- JMP/Minitab competency.
- Clean room experience.
- Experience in advanced analysis & problem-solving techniques including DOE, failure analysis, CpK, GR&R, PFMEA etc.
- Experience in production line development techniques including flow chart, cycle time calculation, UPH setup, line layout & balance, SOP, etc.
- Experience in AR/VR hardware development.
