Jupiter seeks to grow its team with the recruitment of a key hire to help manage project development activities in MISO. Responsibilities include all key development activities ranging from complex permitting and land acquisition efforts to advancing conceptual design, planning, interconnection, and supporting construction and project execution. As a tight-knit, interdisciplinary team, we collaborate on priorities and expect individuals to be flexible and focused on advancing the broader team goals. This individual is expected to be a quick learner, hard-working, and enthusiastic about working with the entire development and broader Jupiter teams to advance Jupiter’s significant and growing platform. This individual is expected to apply ‘best- in-class’ principles and can expect their coworkers to do the same.
Principal Responsibilities
- Advance Jupiter’s leading portfolio of development positions in MISO from initial desktop screening through pre-construction, with a focus on near-term project permitting and site acquisition in MISO.
- Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders – landowners, government officials, first responders, counterparties, environmental, market and technical experts, and advance projects through complex permitting processes
- Advance the broader development team’s goals and creation of best practices for energy storage development
- Create and manage project budgets, development plans, and schedules to ensure projects are on track through all phases
- Lead internal and external teams to advance permitting, interconnection and engineering activities to bring projects to NTP
- In collaboration with internal and external teams, master the evolving market, transmission, regulatory and competitive dynamics in target markets
- Outline and manage project due diligence for commercial and M&A activities
- Support internal investment approval process and prepare board materials for approval
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in energy project development
- Experience building and leading internal and external teams to successfully deliver complex development projects
- Unafraid to work hard, take ownership, and initiative to be effective within a highly motivated, fast-moving team
- Comfortable with ambiguity and making business decisions with limited information on tight timelines
- Ability to travel regularly to support project permitting and development work. Travel will vary depending on project stage, but may be up to 35% in the first year
- High comfort level with small teams & organizations, with the curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas and to bring the best out of co-workers
- (Preferred) Familiarity with energy storage technologies and deployments
Benefits
Compensation and benefits offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate but will be a robust and competitive package. The role will be based in Chicago, IL and the individual will be expected to be present in the office certain days of the week but will retain significant flexibility.
