WHO WE ARE
Solid like the houses it builds, Habitat works with integrity, creativity, and a clear and powerful belief that "Everyone in the Greater Los Angeles County deserves a decent place to live." Since 1990, we have built, rehabilitated, or repaired over 1,450 houses in neighborhoods across the Greater Los Angeles area. Shelter is a basic human need, and Habitat for Humanity strives to achieve its goal of eliminating substandard housing by making decent, sustainable, and affordable housing a reality for all. Habitat LA is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), an ecumenical Christian organization that excels at attracting people of any or no faith to work together to build homes, community, and hope. In addition to building new houses, we also partner with families in need of a new roof, a wheelchair ramp, or other vital repairs. We work to revitalize communities and help those affected by local disasters. Globally, our tithe supports Habitat's work in other countries including building shelters, disaster response, microfinancing, and more.
