The Opportunity: A Transformative Role in Fundraising and Partnerships
The Development Manager is more than a fundraiser; this is an opportunity to foster relationships that propel clean energy forward in under-resourced areas. You’ll be instrumental in strengthening our organization’s sustainability and reach, ensuring that Good Energy Collective can grow its impact through a network of strategic partnerships and forward-thinking philanthropy.
As Development Manager, you’ll champion a robust, multi-dimensional approach to resource generation. From nurturing long-term donor relationships to architecting campaigns that captivate new audiences, your role will be integral to our ability to fund innovative projects, drive policy change, and engage the communities we serve. You’ll begin this role reporting directly to the Executive Director, with the plan to transition under the Operations team, ultimately reporting to the Director of Operations. Throughout, you’ll collaborate with leadership on initiatives that drive our growth and align with our vision.
What You’ll Do: Your Impact and Influence
Strategic Philanthropy & Partnership Development
- Visionary Fundraising: Develop and execute a multi-year strategy that supports Good Energy Collective’s mission to advance clean energy and equity.
- Donor Stewardship: Lead relationship-building with individual, foundation, and corporate donors, providing stewardship that honors their commitment and amplifies their impact.
- Assemble and Implement Development Strategy: As part of GEC-wide perennial strategic planning processes, work with GEC leadership and external advisors to develop strategic plans for GEC’s development strategic plan, incremental updates to the plan, plan monitoring, and related process development.
Operational Stewardship
- Grant Management: Oversee all aspects of grant processes, from researching opportunities and proposal writing to reporting on milestones and impacts.
- CRM Management: Plan and implement GEC development’s technical operating systems, especially its CRM.
- Donor Qualification: Develop systems to qualify high-propensity donors tailored to various tactical approaches (e.g., direct contact, list serves, in-person events, etc.).
- Create Visibility: Work with Directors to establish touchpoints with other GEC teams to cultivate insights and outputs that support development initiative storytelling.
Collaborative Leadership
- Team Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with our Policy, Communications, and Community Engagement teams to connect donor interests with organizational needs and goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted liaison between Good Energy Collective and key stakeholders, ensuring consistent and transparent communication on our progress and milestones.
Who You Are: Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, public policy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of work experience with 5 years in a development or fundraising role, with a proven track record in donor cultivation and relationship management.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in using and developing operating procedures for CRM platforms and development software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, Little Green Light).
- Process Development and Project Management: Experience developing routine cross-departmental processes and managing complex projects in line with project management best practices.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, networking, and relationship-building abilities to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.

Approach to Compensation | Fairness Over Negotiation
We understand that salary discussions often turn into a negotiation game. At Good Energy Collective, however, we’re committed to a different approach—one rooted in fairness and internal equity.
For the Manager of Development and Strategic Partnerships role, the salary range is $105,000 - $115,000, with a midpoint of $110,000. Starting offers are set at 95% of the midpoint, which comes to $104,500.
Our salary bands are designed to provide ample room for financial growth without requiring a title change. It’s our way of saying, “We value your growth right here, and we want to reward you for it.” We also recognize that negotiation often favors certain demographic groups, and we’re dedicated to leveling the playing field. Our goal is for every candidate, regardless of background, to feel valued fairly for their skills and potential.
