Development Engineer – Technology and Innovations R&D

Reports to: Engineering Lead – Manufacturing Technology
TPI Composites Inc. is a leading global wind-blade manufacturer focused on innovative and sustainable solutions to decarbonize and electrify the world. At TPI, we endeavor to manufacture cost-competitive, world-class quality composite products to our customers’ exact specifications.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Development Engineer to join our dynamic Manufacturing Technology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leveraging innovative machine learning and computer vision techniques to develop and implement solutions across various aspects of wind blade manufacturing disciplines. Our projects integrate experimentation and proof of concepts, algorithm research, software engineering, and application system development. You will play a critical role in designing and implementing data-driven algorithms and models to extract meaningful insights from complex visual data, with the goal of advancing TPI's technology initiatives forward in diverse manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate has strong background in Computer Programming and Artificial Intelligence.
Specific Responsibilities
• Actively Design and implement innovative computer vision systems and deep learning solutions to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
• Collaborate with other researchers in design of experiments, implementation, and data collection to optimize imaging and image processing techniques.
• Design experiments and analyze data to provide highly controlled setups for validation purposes.
• Transition algorithms from test-scale to prototype and real-time systems.
• Participates in expansion of TPI’s intellectual property portfolio.
• Motivated collaborator with TPI’s local and global teams.
Required Skills and Education
• MS/ PhD in Computer Science or MS/ PhD in related Engineering disciplines with minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python or C/C++.
• Strong problem-solving capability, root-cause analysis, and data integration skills.
• Willing to research in new areas and learn new skills.
• Highly self-driven and detail-oriented.
• Ability and willingness to travel overseas.
