About the Job
The H Foundation for the Arts is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Development Associate to support our fundraising, grant writing, and event coordination efforts. This position is vital to ensuring the sustainability and growth of our programs and initiatives. The Development Associate will work closely with the Executive Director, Curator, Program Manager, Event Coordinator and other team members to advance the foundation’s mission of fostering creativity and innovation in the arts.
Job Description
This is a full-time on-site role in San Marino, CA. The Development Associate will be responsible for tasks related to fundraising, events, grant writing and communication to support the organization's goals.
Grant writing and Reporting
- Research and identify new grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
- Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals and letters of inquiry, ensuring alignment with funding priorities.
- Prepare progress and final reports for grantors, tracking and documenting program outcomes and financial expenditures.
- Maintain a grants calendar to track submission deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities.
Fundraising and Donor Relations
- Assist in developing and executing annual fundraising campaigns, including individual giving and corporate sponsorships.
- Draft donor communications such as acknowledgment letters, newsletters, and appeals.
- Maintain the donor database, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely updates.
- Research and identify prospective donors, sponsors, and partners.
Event Planning and Coordination
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, including galas, benefit concerts, and community engagement activities.
- Coordinate event logistics such as venue bookings, vendor relations, guest lists, and sponsorship materials.
- Assist in event promotions, including email campaigns, social media posts, and press outreach.
General Development Support
- Collaborate with team members on marketing and communications strategies to enhance visibility and donor engagement.
- Monitor and analyze fundraising metrics and trends, preparing regular reports for leadership.
- Support special projects and initiatives as needed to advance the organization’s mission.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in development, grant writing, or related roles, preferably in the arts or nonprofit sector.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in donor database management software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with event coordination and marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Canva, or Eventbrite) is a plus.
- Fluency in an Asian language is preferred.
- Passion for the arts and commitment to advancing the mission of the foundation.
Work Environment
This position may require occasional evening and weekend availability for events.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be available, depending on organizational needs.
Compensation
Base salary starting at $45,000 per year with a generous bonus incentives structure.
