Overview:
Reporting to the Controller, assist with managing the day-to-day accounting and administrative operations for a portfolio of multi-family, real estate development projects.
The Development Accountant will contribute to creating a professional work environment, which reflects the Pennrose priorities of customer service, respect and collegiality among finance team members, full compliance with the regulatory requirements, while following company policies and procedures and applicable regulations
Pay range: $70,000 - $80,000/year depending on experience.

Responsibilities:Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with project developers and other internal customers, providing timely and thorough information, insight and analysis concerning their respective development projects and related budgets.
- Prepares and enters all project job cost and journal entries necessary to maintain budget cost categories and ledger accounts to accurately reflect financial activity and balances.
- Prepare monthly and periodic project funding requisition packages for submission to various lenders and investors.
- Responsible for the cash management and oversight of each development project and related entity, including payments to contractors and professionals, processing of wires, transfers and collection of fees, loan disbursements and equity contributions.
- Responsible for accounting oversight and maintenance of the general ledger for entities associated with development projects.
- Responds to inquiries from third parties including but not limited to partners, lenders, investors, vendors, housing authorities and other governmental agencies.
- Prepare and provide periodic and year end workpapers and documentation as necessary for external auditors to complete cost certifications, tax returns and audit preparation.
- Lead, mentor, coach and train colleagues. Listen to employees’ concerns and find solutions and resources for them.
- Periodically present financial information, issues and reports to management.
- Special projects and assignments as requested.
Performance Metrics:
- Timely and accurate submission of project funding requisition packages for projects.
- Maintain accuracy of job cost and general ledger accounts and reports.
- Prompt and accurate response and receive positive feedback from internal and external customers.
- Timely and accurate completion of auditor requested workpapers.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or similar discipline.
- 3 or more years’ experience in real estate and/or construction project cost accounting preferred.
- Extensive experience working with a major general ledger and job cost accounting software system.
- Excellent MS Excel skills
- Ability to be flexible, work in a faced paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Requires valid driver’s license, insured vehicle and ability to travel
