Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Desktop Support Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a passion for providing excellent customer service. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting for all desktop hardware and software issues. You will also be responsible for maintaining and upgrading our clients' technology systems to ensure they are running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide first-line support for desktop and laptop issues, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems.
- Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain desktop systems, peripherals, and software applications according to company standards.
- User Assistance: Assist users with IT-related issues, providing guidance on software usage, and resolving technical problems in a timely manner.
- System Maintenance: Perform regular system maintenance, including updates, patches, and backups to ensure the security and stability of desktop environments.
- Incident Management: Track, document, and resolve support requests using a ticketing system, ensuring that issues are addressed within agreed-upon SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
- Hardware Management: Manage hardware inventory, including the setup and decommissioning of desktop systems, laptops, and other devices.
- Security Compliance: Implement and enforce IT security policies, including the installation of antivirus software and ensuring data encryption on devices.
- Network Support: Assist with basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity issues, VPN support, and network printer setups.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other IT team members, including network engineers, system administrators, and software developers, to resolve complex issues and improve IT services.
- Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, standard operating procedures, and common troubleshooting guides.
Requirements:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or similar.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, group policies, and user account management.
- Familiarity with desktop hardware, including PCs, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Experience with remote desktop support tools and technologies (e.g., Remote Desktop Services).
- Basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in desktop support, IT helpdesk, or a similar technical support role.
- Experience in a corporate IT environment, supporting a large number of users.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues effectively.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on providing a positive user experience.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple support requests simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
