Job Title: Soft Window/Drapery Designer

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Soft Window/Drapery Designer to lead the design of our home textiles line. This role involves researching textile trends, creating innovative fabric designs, and managing an overseas design team. The ideal candidate will also ensure effective communication across departments to deliver quality products that align with our brand's vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct active research to identify textile trends through competitive shopping, trend magazines, and domestic markets to inspire new fabric designs.
- Develop and merchandise content for presentation to retail customers and create detailed Tech Packs for production.
- Oversee, manage, and inspire a team of designers located overseas, providing clear direction and delegating tasks effectively.
- Collaborate with various internal teams, including Sales, Design, Product Development, and Sourcing, to ensure alignment and communication.
- Assist in the creation of presentation and trend boards and conceptualize showroom resets twice yearly.
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed for market research and team collaboration.
- Build products from inception through the complete life cycle, ensuring strong attention to detail and quality.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in soft window/drapery design with a solid understanding of the retail landscape.
- Proficiency in textile CAD design and expert skills in Adobe Photoshop, llustrator and PowerPoint
- Strong understanding of fabric weaving, printing, production techniques, and specifications.
- Proven ability to interpret sample designs and develop custom variations.
- Experience with branding and packaging, alongside a consistent track record of managing multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the capacity to mentor and develop team members.
- Strong organizational abilities, communication skills, and attention to detail.
Additional Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience in home product design, showcasing attention to detail, quality, and historical references across product categories.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with global business exposure and a strong understanding of the product lifecycle and business calendars.
- Ability to synthesize complex issues, advocate for quality and style, and build a collaborative culture that values diverse perspectives.
