Job Summary
Designers at Pivot play an integral part in the success of our clients. The designer will be responsible for helping to determine brand standards and setting campaign direction for client teams. This position requires an expert visual design foundation, broad aesthetic sensibilities, and a strong desire for collaboration in the process of producing engaging visuals.
The designer's posture is proactive and engaged. Designers must hold a keen eye for details and ask how to take each project to the next level. Designers can clearly articulate the rationale for the creative choices made and are passionate about doing so.
Designers understand that true value is not found in what is made or the work produced but resides within the unique person. Designers must be comfortable taking the space to share experiences and ideas. Designers seek collaboration and understand that the best work comes from the minds of many.

Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and push visual identities and brand systems alongside client and client teams
- Adaptable and able to work on brands never touched before
- Voice the unique gifts to the team and lean into them
- Understand the full picture of a project's needs and bring the team up to speed on concepts as developed while utilizing the strengths of the greater team based on the needs of the project
- Produce client tactics on time and of high quality, with expert-level technical design knowledge and the ability to develop and follow essential branding guidelines
- Present concepts and designs internally and to clients
- Based on approved design concepts, possess the ability to resize and recreate layouts in various formats
- Tactics may include but are not limited to: (billboard, direct mail, advertisements, bill inserts, etc.) and digital (social media graphics, web display ads, email images, etc.)
- Complete projects by coordinating with outside agencies, printers, etc.
- Obtain approval of work by collaborating with the Client Team
- Able to learn and retain branding guidelines for multiple clients
- Brainstorm ideas and new campaign concepts
- Continue education on current design trends and technological applications by utilizing resources such as online classes and tutorials, workshops, professional publications, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Competencies:
- Logo + Brand development and system creation
- Possess expert-level technical design knowledge and understand the difference between color modes, final file type requirements, and applications of different file types
- Prepare files for print/prepress and digital output
- Expert-level control of typography and hierarchy
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud design programs on Mac or Windows (primarily AI, IND, PS)
- Adept in Microsoft Office products
- Familiarity with project management and communication applications (i.e., Asana, Forecast, Slack)
- Basic knowledge of Figma and After Effects
- Additional skills, such as email services (MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.), Sketch, Procreate, photography, and animation/animated gifs are a plus
Communication and Teamwork Skills:
- Skilled in clear communication online as well as in person
- Ability to assess personal workload and communicate time/deadline needs
- Ability to assess team workload and communicate personnel needs to resource coordination
- Ability to self-critique as well as give and receive constructive feedback
- Possess a strong ability to step between various workflows including design tasks, training, and assisting, and assessing workflows
- Contribute to team effort by sharing and listening to technical design tips, sharing design work, and general engagement and collaboration as needed

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to form and convey design rational
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
- Work nonstandard hours, when necessary, anticipate issues, and communicate proactively
- Work in a highly time-managed environment requiring quick turnaround and constant deadlines
- Proof work for consistency, grammatical and spelling accuracy, as well as the accuracy of graphic details
- Ability to execute tasks with quality and timeliness
Minimum Education and Experience
- 5–7 years of experience
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred (experience in lieu of degree will be considered)
- Experience leading teams and/or training a plus
- Work is typically performed in a remote office setting
- Occasionally travel may be required (10%)
