What you'll do
As the Design Engineer based at our manufacturing facility in Waterville, ME, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and validating product design features for our DuraMag® division. Your day-to-day will involve developing line drawings, renderings, concepts, basic graphic design artwork, work instructions, installing products on trucks, and confirming the desired fitment and performance of our products.
You will also provide accurate, timely, and cost-effective engineering solutions that work within the limits of our manufacturing equipment and assembly capabilities.
Additionally, you will be accountable for ensuring that your renderings and concepts meet customer requirements, perform for the desired warranty period, and comply with regulatory requirements.

What you'll do
As the Design Engineer based at our manufacturing facility in Waterville, ME, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and validating product design features for our DuraMag® division. Additionally, you will be accountable for ensuring that your renderings and concepts meet customer requirements, perform for the desired warranty period, and comply with regulatory requirements.
You will also:
- Create solid models and drawings to achieve defined product attributes
- Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications
- Design, test, and verify the fitment and performance of purchased items and manufactured products
- Verify installment procedures and document with pictures, videos, and commentary
- Create installation instructions to enhance the consumer experience
- Design concepts for a variety of truck-related projects
- Apply sound engineering methods and practices to support business goals
- Spearhead the engineering change management process for assigned projects
- Create and manage engineering change requests (ECNs) and the approval process
- Issues ECNs with effective dates and material disposition
- Ensure product design quality, manufacturability, assembly
- Decide the materials and product cost for your design concepts
- Manage the Engineering Bill of Material and process the Product Specification forms
- Define validation plans to ensure product quality
- Identify opportunities to improve financial performance of your assigned projects
- Design manufacturing aids, fixtures, and tooling
- Benchmark similar truck and automotive products and compare product attributes
- Support the NPI (New Product Introduction) process
- Create and maintain engineering specifications in effort to continuously improve product quality
- Partner with Operations to develop standard work procedures for production associates
- Communicate effectively and often with leadership and staff
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with expectations for cost, quality, and timing
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology
- Proficient utilizing SOLIDWORKS design software
- Expertise in the design and manufacturing of aluminum extrusion and sheet metal products, including tolerance design and ANSI-Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
