About the Job
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead product development initiatives, engaging with customers and team members to align designs and engineering solutions with quality, feasibility, cost, and profitability targets.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to conceptualize 2D/3D proposals for new products, oversee task delegation, and manage design iterations.
- Analyze competitor components and emerging technologies to enhance our competitive edge.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for company resources related to design, analysis, measurement, testing, and prototyping.
- Prepare technical reports and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Enhance component designs and establish new design standards to boost quality and productivity.
- Maintain procedural documentation and records in accordance with quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Address functional component issues in collaboration with customers and internal departments.
- Contribute to Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) processes, identifying failure modes, conducting fault tree analysis, and recommending countermeasures and design revisions.
- Foster innovation through internal and external partnerships, leveraging new technologies to optimize the product development process.
- Evaluate and onboard new suppliers based on criteria such as stability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide expertise in automotive part design and injection molding, utilizing engineering principles to resolve complex challenges prior to design finalization.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to drive optimization across the organization.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably with a focus on Mechanical Engineering.
- At least five years of experience in the design and engineering of plastic injection molded components.
- Proficiency in plastic engineering design for automotive applications, as well as geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), including tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Familiarity with injection tooling, processing requirements, and Mold Flow CAE analysis.
- Ability to interpret CAE analysis results and recommend appropriate actions.
- Knowledge of exterior paint, plating, and mold-in-color material design requirements is advantageous.
- Strong grasp of GD&T, CAD, and fundamentals of plastic component design and injection tooling.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (2007 or newer).
- Advanced project management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines consistently.
- Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication abilities across all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and organizational capabilities.
