Reporting to the Sr Director of Fleet Engineering, the Project Engineer - Fleet will support all Masterack Fleet projects by designing and implementing solutions for work van and truck customers that exceed expectations. The successful candidate will lead projects from concept to production start-up and post launch support. This is a hands-on position, and we are looking for a self-starter capable of managing multiple projects. The candidate will also possess strong leadership skills including the ability to influence without authority.
Essential Functions:
- Design new products for Customers.
- Works cross-functionally to understand customer needs, builds relationships internally as well as with customers, ensures Customer needs are understood and those needs converted into tangible specifications and requirements.
- Assists Sales and Client Relations Team to identify customer needs/requirements and solve for customer solutions.
- Leads internal and external project meetings, captures action items, and sets up a course of action to execute, follows through and tracks Project Metrics.
- Responsible for establishing and leading cross-functional team meetings to ensure specifications and requirements are understood and ensure the entire project schedule stays on track. Sets up and conducts internal project meetings to ensure process completion towards the project plan and gate deliverables.
- Serves as subject matter expert working with Engineering, Sales and Client Relations, Marketing, Operations, Purchasing and Finance on project deliverables.
- Serves as technical and product configuration expert on all Masterack products. Translates Masterack Core products to customer requirements and specifications, ensuring Masterack Core products are used where possible.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining outstanding attention to detail

- Ability to create and comprehend Bill of Materials, Drawings and Engineering Specifications
- Hands on and knows their way around a Manufacturing Plant. Previous experience in the Manufacturing environment or a high Engineering technical aptitude.
- Automotive experience a plus.
Qualifications:
- 2 to 4 years of progressive leadership experience in Sheet Metal Design & Fabrication & Processes - Laser Cutting, Bending, Stamping, welding, painting & Etc.
- Proficient with Solidworks, Catia experience is a plus
- PDM experience, including Work Flows
- JDE or similar MRP systems - BOM structure
- Project Management experience, leading Cross-functional teams
- Engineering Tools Experience - DFMEA, GD&T, Tolerance Stack, FEA
- Project Mangement Tools Experience - MS Project, Stage Gate, APQP
- Business Plan Development a plus
- Supply Chain experience including raw materials, components or other related goods
Ability to travel as needed to suppliers, industry functions as assigned, and Prototype/Pilot support as needed.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Lean Six / Sigma Certifications is a plus
