We are looking for a skilled and motivated Experienced Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cincinnati (Mason), Ohio. The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering and possess a strong practical foundation in classical engineering principles, coupled with a passion for innovation.
Responsibilities:As an Experienced Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing innovative designs and solutions across a variety of applications in the medical, pharmaceutical and consumer sectors. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet client specifications, industry standards, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with technical, management, and marketing teams to effectively present, promote, and sell services within the Medical Device and related industries.
- Project Management: Work with senior staff to assist in project management activities, including proposal generation, resource planning and allocation, and budget tracking to ensure successful project execution. Progressively demonstrate successful ownership and strong project management skills ultimately demonstrating project management competency.
- Product Development: Demonstrate and lead phases of the product development process, including requirements definition, conceptualization, design, implementation, testing, and documentation, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance.
- Design Analysis: Perform engineering analysis and simulations to validate designs and optimize performance, including stress, thermal, and fluid flow analysis.
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, technical drawings, and change orders, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in design reviews and testing phases, identifying and resolving any issues or non-conformities.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients to foster collaboration and trust.
- Market Opportunity Identification: Analyze market trends to identify opportunities for SES to deliver exceptional value to customers through integrated service offerings.
- Marketing Collateral Development: Partner with cross-functional teams to create compelling marketing materials, presentations, technical bulletins, and website content that convey key messages effectively to target audiences.
- New Business Development: Identify and pursue opportunities to secure new projects and clients, contributing to the growth of the organization.
Required:
Education: MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
Innovation and Initiative: Demonstrated ability to think creatively and possess an entrepreneurial mindset, with a proven track record as a self-starter.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Project Management: Experience in project management is preferred, with a strong understanding of project lifecycle and resource allocation.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to approach challenges methodically and develop effective solutions.
Team Collaboration: Proven experience working within multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and shared goals.
Industry Experience: Previous experience in the Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry is required, with an understanding of industry-specific challenges and regulations.
Mechanics Fundamentals: Solid foundation in first principles mechanics is essential for effective design and analysis.
CAD Proficiency: Proficient in CAD software, with SolidWorks experience preferred.
Design Control and Validation: Familiarity with all phases of the Design Control and Validation processes is preferred, along with knowledge of FDA and ISO 13485 regulations.
GD&T Knowledge: Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred.
Data Analysis Skills: Experience in data analysis using tools such as Minitab, JMP, R, or Python is a plus.
Test Fixture Development: Experience in designing and developing test fixtures is preferred.
DFM and DFA Knowledge: Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles is preferred.
Consulting Experience: Experience working in a services or consulting organization is advantageous.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the USA without the need for current or future sponsorship.
Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel approximately 10-30% of the time.
