Summary:
A community's greatest resource is its citizens. Through Citizen Advisory Boards, the City Council can gain valuable information and insights - and make better decisions. By serving on an advisory board, you can contribute to your community in a meaningful way. We have five standing Citizen Advisory Boards that meet regularly. To learn more about each board or committee, review here: https://www.desmoineswa.gov/94/Citizen-Advisory-Boards
Special Boards & Committees:
Often, the City Council forms a special board or committee to tackle a particular issue. For example, a special advisory committee is preparing recommendations for a new Parks and Recreation Master Plan for the entire city. These ad hoc groups meet as needed to research the issue and prepare recommendations. Once their work is complete, meetings are discontinued.
