About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Project Manager to support a fast-paced Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Federal contract. Working closely with the Project Manager (PM) and the Project Control Specialist (PCS), the Deputy Project Manager (DPM) provides competent leadership and responsible project/program direction through successful performance of a variety of detailed, diverse elements of software development and project management from business requirements analysis, design, software coding, testing, production deployment and burn-in/maintenance.
Along with the PM, the DPM actively directs/ coordinates the efforts of all employees, associated subcontractors, team members, and vendors, managing all work performed for the project, coordinating staffing requests from IRS stakeholders and managing the contract financial performance. When the PM is unavailable, the DPM is acting and handles action items.
Position is remote in U.S.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, direct and monitor the execution of technical projects to effectively manage contract cost, schedule, scope, quality and risk.
- Organize, direct, and coordinate the planning and production of all support activities and resource needs, and assign duties and responsibilities to staff.
- Oversee completion of tasks, report risks/issues and identify mitigation within estimated time frames and budget constraints. Monitor and oversee that employee and subcontractor deliverables are on track.
- Ensure compliance with contractual processes and requirements, and federal and state laws.
- Engage in collaborative communications, both written and verbal, with employees, government representatives, and other departments within the company.
- Support the project manager in the management of the IFS project
- Develop processes and plans to ensure the smooth operations of IRS IFS branch
- Coordinate large SAP enhancement efforts
- Assist with coordination of P1/P2 deployments
- Provide oversight of management to quality control plan
- Provide monthly metrics for IRS
- Lead and facilitate weekly IRS prioritization ticket reviews with customer
- Lead year end close support (mock test cycles and production support)
- Provide functional resource allocation and planning support for major SAP enhancement projects
- Provide weekly IPT status reporting
- Facilitate coordination of major enhancement and break fix tickets resolution requiring escalation
- Assist the IRS in developing lifecycle artifacts, and Business Case and budget justification/verbiage
- Assist the IRS in Risk Management process, and support responses for TIGTA and GAO audits
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members employees and subcontractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
- Utilize project management tools to meet required project objectives and reporting requirements
- Monitor contract financial management reports to include completion of budget forecasts, budget execution, monthly financial reviews, and identification and tracking of funding issues
- Assist with Business Development efforts, such as proposal team reviews or authoring response to sections of project work statements, as needed
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- 7-10 years of related professional experience required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree.
- Must have demonstrated experience leading Internal Revenue Service SAP teams
- Experience in release planning, developing deployment plans and tailoring communication to respective audiences
- Experience with SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and SRM Procurement for Public Sector (PPS)
- Strong knowledge in SAP cross functional integration areas including PS, SD and FI modules
- Expertise in delivering procurement data in a clear reportable manner
- Experience with IRS Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Enterprise Life Cycle (ELC)
- Experience with developing and presenting standard and ad hoc reports and briefings for executive leadership
- Experience using automated financial tracking tools and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment, requiring flexibility and excellent customer service skills
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment
- Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently
- Ability to deconflict high stress situations both externally and internally
- Preferred qualifications: Experience with Visio and Sharepoint.
Additional Requirements as per contract/client:
- Candidates must have held an active IRS MBI clearance within the last 2 years to qualify
- Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years, and be Federal Tax compliant

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment.
