Deputy Director-Reactor Systems Design and Analysis - Idaho National Laboratory

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Deputy Director - Reactor Systems Design and Analysis to work in our Reactor Systems Design and Analysis group. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our EROB facility with every other Friday off. You will report to the Director - Reactor Systems Design and Analysis.

You will assist the Director with the management of the Reactor Systems Design and Analysis (RSDA) division.

Responsibilities Include:

• Serving as a primary contact with Nuclear Science and Technology (NST) main contact with Materials Fuels Complex (MFC), Advanced Test Reactor (ATR), and Transient Reactor Test (TREAT) for RSDA work being conducted at those facilities; work with department managers and NSTs Head of Talent and Organizational Development to determine professional development needs.
• Partner with department managers and Talent Acquisition and the Human Resource Business Partner on strategic hiring needs in main areas for division growth and expansion.
• In addition to supporting the RSDA Director, the deputy will support other director(s) and directorate-wide programs, generally in the above-mentioned areas. This support will be established on a case-by-case basis according to needs and expertise.
• Supporting RSDA and the coordination of support is necessary.
• Inform and enhance communication as division liaison. Create networks and contribute to integration of programs across INL organizations (e.g. NST, National Homeland Security, ATR, and MFC, and Facility Site Services).
• Be the organizational spokesperson to internal and external customers. Be an advisor to management and customers.
• Establish long-range plans and goals to support RSDA portfolio
• Work is reviewed through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of supervisor.
• Develop advanced ideas and guide their development. Decisions or recommendations will ensure achievement of important RSDA goals, NST, and Laboratory goals.

Minimum Requirements: 

• BS and 12+ years of experience, or MS and 8+ years of experience, or PhD and 6+ years of experience. Degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related discipline with commensurate experience in the field of nuclear technology, systems, and research and development.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in line management with technical management responsibilities for an engineering organization.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working on nuclear systems design and analysis; experience and working knowledge using safety bases, Safety Analysis Report (SAR) and Technical Specification Requirements (TSR).
• Understand and clearly describe complex nuclear designs, analyses and their requirements.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information: 

• The target pay range for this position is $ annually.  The full pay range is $103,032.00 - $262,740.00. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
