DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:
The objective of this requirement is to provide Temporary Personnel Services for daily employment services in support of the operation of Dekalb County in Georgia. County departments will require the services of temporary personnel to assist with special projects of a time-limited nature, to fill in for staff on vacation or extended leave, and/or to assist during periods of peak activity. Skills test may be administered to access proficiency.
The Department Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the computer systems and network infrastructure within a specific department, including installing and configuring software and hardware, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring system security, and monitoring performance to support the department's daily operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
- Three years of experience in Systems Administration.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PREFERRED
- Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
- Proficiency in network administration (LAN, WAN, firewalls)
- Experience with system management tools and scripting languages
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills to interact with users of varying technical abilities
- Bilingual a plus (but not a requirement)
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tasks include, but are not limited to, additional duties as assigned.
- Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers; confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities;
- Organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work;
- Confers with co-workers, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise;
- Assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment;
- Assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Normal working hours are 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.
During the assignment, temporary personnel shall not work for any period over eight (8) hours per day for a maximum of forty (40) hours per week without prior authorization.
DeKalb County government observes eleven (11) holidays during each calendar year: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Whenever a County-observed holiday occurs on Saturday, the previous Friday will be observed. Whenever a County-observed holiday occurs on Sunday, the Monday following will be observed.
