Job Responsibilities for General Manager:
The basic function of this position is to provide overall leadership for the daily operations of the laboratory with direct responsibility for cost controls, labor/employee oversight, quality, production, lab growth, and customer retention. You are the on-site extension of the B.O.D. and Officers, and you will be responsible for managing the lab and meeting the expectations and directives they set forth.

Job Duties for Lab Manager:
- Planning administration
- Provide leadership and vision to the organization by assisting the regional manager and company officers with the development of long-range and annual plans, and with the evaluation and reporting progress on plans.
- Develop a strategic plan by studying technology and financial opportunities together with regional manager.
- Accomplish objectives by establishing plans and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; and making mid-course corrections.
HR management:
- Increase lab’s effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities.
- All must be approved by the Direct Supervisor.
- Assist in reviewing applications, pre-screening applicants, and working with Direct Supervisor and the Director of HR to finalize hiring decisions/processes.
- Oversee the review process for the employees of the company & make any necessary salary adjustment recommendations for approval to the Direct Supervisor.
- Reviews must be conducted at 30 days, 60 days & 90 days after the hire date, and then annually thereafter.
- Employee benefit information must be promptly provided when required based on employee eligibility.
- Handle all terminations and/or on-site employee discipline issues in conjunction with Direct
- Supervisor and HR Manager.
- Act as the on-site resource for employees for any HR questions or issues. Work with HR
- Director to resolve any issues.
- Review & approve requests for vacation as well as any necessary overtime for employees.
Project management:
- Coordinate efforts by enforcing production, marketing and technical processes policies and
- procedures; coordinating actions with staff.
Marketing and Public Relations:
- Build company image by collaborating with customers, and employees; enforce ethical
- business practices.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing
- professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art
- practices; participating in professional societies.
- Support CE events as coordinated by marketing department.
- Organize and host a minimum of 4 CE events/year for laboratory clients & prospects. Work in conjunction with COO/Director of Education to facilitate topics & speakers. Handle all logistics
- including securing location, food & beverage, marketing program to attract attendees (working with COO or Marketing Director), registration, oversight of attendance, delivery of attendee course materials/handouts, AND follow-up procedures for warm leads generated.
- Manage company activities and work in conjunction with Regional Manager, Marketing & Sales, to achieve stated growth goals annually.
- Personally oversee retention & growth program with lab clients; including, reviewing up/down lists monthly with sales team with emphasis on clients down 10% or more, review of top 15 clients for the month, weekly CRM reporting with sales team, and attaining goals with clients with & remakes for the month.
- Work with Marketing, Sales, and Regional Manager to coordinate marketing program;
- determine marketing strategy for growth, oversight of prospect list, review new customer sales
- monthly, annual plan for participation in trade shows and events to reach prospects, and review follow-up protocol.
Financial Management:
- Oversee inventory & approve all orders placed at the lab. ALL inventory and supply orders outside of daily production orders (i.e. abutments and any outsourced products or services) will be approved & placed by the Lab Manager through the company supplied online channel ensuring company pricing is given where the company has negotiated group pricing.
- Implement cost control programs as directed by Regional Director & Officers.
- Assist in preparation of the annual budget. Based on daily sales, COGS, and EBITDA.
- Manage labor costs & material costs to achieve budgeted goals.
- Set & review production budgets with Regional Manager.
- Review production reports and P&L’s weekly/monthly as provided by Apex CFO.
Production/Quality Control:
- Plan, organize and control production in the organization to ensure that goods are produced
- efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard. Work with Direct Report and our COO to establish and implement the most efficient and profitable workflow systems.
- Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
- Review and make recommendations for adjusting the schedule where needed
- Manage human and material resources to meet production schedules
- Make recommendations about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement
- Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures
- Enforce product quality standards as set by management
- Monitor quality standards of products to ensure directed remake goal is achieved (<2% external)
- Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives
- Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems
- Determine and recommend improvements to the production process
- Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for
- improvement
Immediately report issues of quality or consistency in production processes to the Regional
Manager and work to quickly rectify. This includes in-house, insourcing, and any external issues.
