Responsibilities
**Job Summary** :
Participates in the daily operations of the Pediatric Dental Clinical Program. Provides chair side assistance to care providers in the pediatric dental clinic and in the operating room. Provides exemplary customer service to patients and care providers.
**Job Duties** :
1. **PEDIATRIC DENTAL CLINIC 80%**
1. Assist dentist
2. Anticipate instrument, supply or equipment needs during procedure
3. Utilize four handed dental technique:
1. Working as a team with the dentist
2. Pass and receive instruments
3. With the left hand, pick up and pass the next instrument in a “ready” position using several grasps
1. Pen grasp
2. Palm grasp
3. Palm-thumb grasp
4. Other techniques
1. The right hand is used for grasping the patient’s cheek or tongue
1. Operating the oral evacuating equipment
2. Applying water and air to the field of operation as needed
1. **MISCELLANEOUS RESPONSIBILITIES 15%**
1. Participates in routine operations of the clinic including:
1. Develops and labels x-rays; documents exposures
2. Review inventory of all clinic supplies on a weekly basis
3. Provide support to the Lead Assistant for order processing
4. Stocking chair side cabinets
5. Cleaning and maintaining traps, suction, lights, cabinets, dental chairs, etc.
6. Prepare and label model boxes for all new patients
7. Maintain patient forms inventory and restock as necessary
8. Comply with infection control policies and procedures as mandated by NYSDOH
1. **SMH and SAWGRASS OPERATING ROOMS 5%**
1. Assists with dental procedures in the operating room
2. Assists faculty and residents
3. Provides support to the operating room staff as it pertains to dentistry
4. Maintains inventory for all dental supplies
5. Identify and replace worn instruments (through approved ordering process) as required
6. Cleans and maintains:
1. Suction
2. Curing lights
3. Cabinets
4. Carts
5. Tables
1. Stock OR carts
2. Utilizes four handed dental technique (as described in section A, item #3)
3. Work as a team with:
1. Faculty
2. Resident
3. Support OR staff
1. Pass, receive and decontaminate instruments
2. Able to effectively utilize the oral evacuating equipment
3. Apply water and air to the field of operation
4. Maintain patient forms and restock as necessary
5. Comply with policies and procedures as mandated by NYSDOH
**Education and Experience** **:**
Graduate of an accredited school of dental assisting. Prefer 1 year of experience as a dental assistant, but not required.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $ 19.00 - $ 24.70 Hourly

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._

**Opening:** Part Time 22.5 hours Grade 026 EIOH Pediatric Dentistry
**Schedule:** 8:30 AM-5 PM
