About the Job
We are looking for an ambitious Prep Cook for our Deli. We have over 75 salad, dip, and torte recipes that we make from scratch. We need and experienced Prep cook for our kitchen to execute these recipes on a daily basis. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
A great prep cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will be able to follow instructions and recipes as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
Prep Cook Job Responsibilities:
- Perform routine kitchen tasks.
- Follow the prep list created to plan duties.
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible.
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, using a knife skillfully, and other meal prep.
- Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
- Undertake basic cooking duties.
- Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees.
- Good physical endurance to stand for long periods and ability to lift heavy pots or bags of supplies.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash.
- Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
Prep Cook Qualifications / Skills:

Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is desirable
- Training from a culinary school is an asset
- Prior experience working in a kitchen
- Proven experience as a prep cook
