- Supervision is exercised over two or more merit full-time positions working in a variety of mechanical/trades fields per the Merit Rules. The elements of supervision include planning, assigning, reviewing, evaluating, coaching, training, recommending hire/fire and discipline.
- Designs sketches and prints of remodeling that needs to be done and inspects the work.
- Coordinates and works with contractors, architects and others on large construction projects.
- Assists in projecting budget for maintenance operations and report preparation.
- Oversees the operation, maintenance and repair of boilers, pumps, water and other treatment installations.
- May supervise grounds maintenance or custodial workers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Physical Plant Maintenance Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Three years experience in operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, hand and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
- Three years experience in performing work in a variety of trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
- Six months experience in interpreting safety and building codes, laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Six months experience in estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
- Six months experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
- Six months experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
- Knowledge of planning, directing and implementing maintenance and preventative maintenance programs involving all aspects of trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
