About the Job
- Assist the Folk Art Collection Specialist with the preparation of new exhibitions at the Blue Ball Barn.
- Develop & maintain working relationships with other internal and external collections partners to ensure objectives set forth in the Division Collections Policy are maintained and that Collections Policies are followed. The Collections Manager will play a lead role in the Division’s Curation Committee & will train/advise other full-time Division personnel tasked with artifact use, storage, or exhibit responsibilities.
- Accomplish various projects such as database entry, housekeeping, and building/storage area maintenance.
- Compile research on objects in the collection for the purpose of exhibit, programming, or response to general inquiry. Provide cost estimates for contracted services and budget preparation.
- Assist the Folk Art Collection Specialist with related projects and Division events when needed which may include the preparation & implementation of programs relating to Division collections or the management of our collections.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good written and verbal communication skills.
- Other duties as required.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Possession of an Associates degree or higher in Museum studies History, American Studies or a closely related subject.
- Two years of experience with museum or archival collections and collections management software (i.e. - Past Perfect).
- Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.
- Six months experience of cultural, historical resources or parks and recreation.
- Six months experience of public speaking or interpretation.
- Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
