Job Description:
Mechanic II is responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance; maintain and repair machinery and equipment (i.e., transportation and accumulation conveyor, Sortation sliding shoe sorter, material handling equipment, etc.) and electrical power system within the distribution facility and the building maintenance interior/exterior of the facility.
Responsibilities:
1. Building Maintenance:
· Perform repairs on doors, dock plates, lighting, plumbing, concrete, and sheetrock. Maintain and troubleshoot industrial electrical system.
2. Conveyor System Maintenance:
· Perform start up and shut down of equipment in accordance with operation’s requirements, company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
· Install, maintain, and troubleshoot control components-- photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, and frequency drives.
· Maintain and troubleshoot transportation and accumulation conveyor components – rollers, belts, motors, and chains.
· Maintain and troubleshoot sortation shoe sorter components – proximity switch, safety microswitch, VFD, chain, tube and pusher (Sliding Shoe) assembly and divert plate.
· Lace and vulcanize conveyor belts.
· Perform preventive maintenance on all conveyor system components.
· Read and interpret blue prints - electrical drawings
· Perform hot work - cutting torch, soldering and welding skills
3. Equipment Maintenance:
· Maintains equipment in baler rooms.
· Maintains forklift battery storage area including preventive maintenance
· Ensure forklifts are operational
4. Facility Cleanliness / Safety:
· Ensures the maintenance shop area is organized, neat and clean.
· Identifies and acts immediately regarding any safety hazards, spills, etc., to avoid the risk of accidents.
· Uses safe lifting techniques and operates power equipment in a safe manner.
· Abide by all stated regulations while performing works, i.e., lockout/tagout procedures, etc.
· Maintain general cleanliness of building including cleaning up after you complete your work.
Job Requirement:
· Must have high school diploma or equivalent
· Must have knowledge of electrical motor control, strong electrical/mechanical skills; working with AC/DC circuits.
· Experience must include 3 years of progressive mechanical aptitude in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
· Expertise in welding, soldering, and cutting torch skills is required.
· Cognizant of the expectation to be accountable for all company assets, to include: spare parts, supplies, materials, tools, and general facility equipment.
· Experience utilizing machines/equipment as follows: hand tools, drills, grinders, saws, multimeter, tachometer, welder, solderer, cutting torch, hydraulic gear puller, electric forklifts, pallet jacks, and platform lifts.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Requires overtime work as necessary.
· Must be flexible to work any shift and/or weekends as scheduled.
· Exhibit the ability to work independently and safely, with limited supervision.
· Must be well organized, and able to complete, and perform work orders.
· Will be expected to conduct all assigned tasks scheduled by manager/lead.
· Must place the upmost importance on working safely, and maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others, at all times.
· Understand written and oral instructions in the English language.
· Ability to follow instructions quickly and accurately.
· Ability to work well under pressure when there is an equipment outage.
