RCM's client is a global specialty provider of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, was established in March 2017 as the result of the acquisition of two smaller firms and has an extensive global footprint with nearly 80,000 employees in 228 cities in 30 countries. Its core business encompasses one of the largest property and casualty (P&C) insurance groups in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) domestic market. RCM's client is looking to expand its current IT capacity with several key hires to take advantage of rapid growth and current market opportunities.
SPECIFIC ROLE:
RCM's client is looking to add an experienced Database Developer/Engineer to design and build an accounting/finance data warehouse to extract and store data from upstream transaction systems, perform calculations on this data, and store the calculation results in the data warehouse. Validation and balancing routines must be created for data extracted from the upstream systems, and existing calculations in MS Excel must be ported to the data warehouse. Warehouse reports, and data extracts, are to be designed and implemented for use by the business units.
The client is in a solid growth mode and offers a dynamic work environment with an abundance of new challenges/learning opportunities. This is a key role in support of their agriculture risk business and will be viewed as a key hire for their team.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Database Developer will be responsible for the following:
- Collaborate with the business teams to understand their current state and future state workflows and business/validation rules, existing MS Excel solution, data integration with external systems, and data warehouse reports to be designed and implemented.
- Collaborate with various technical teams, and subject matter experts, to design and implement the future state data warehouse solution.
- Collaborate with various technical teams and business units to ensure optimal performance of the data warehouse pipelines, calculations, and reports.
- Work closely with the technical teams of the front-end applications to understand their data models and to build routines to extract, transform, and load data into the data warehouse.
- Work closely with the business units to implement calculation routines.
- Build validation and balancing routines to ensure that valid data is loaded to the data warehouse and that the data is accurately extracted and loaded.
- Create test cases to validate that the warehouse data is being accurately extracted, validated, stored, and reported.
- Create test cases to certify that the calculation routines are accurate.
- Create test cases to measure and report on the performance of the data warehouse. Implement performance improvements, as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Team to create test cases and scripts for certifying the performance of the data warehouse and accuracy of the calculation routines, and that warehouse data is being accurately extracted, validated, stored, and reported.
- Work with analytics and business teams on improving data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility, and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
- Strong knowledge of database design principles, database logical and physical design.
- Minimum of 10 years professional experience designing and building accounting/finance data warehouses (insurance domain experience a plus).
- Proficient in the following technologies: MS SQL SSIS, SSRS, MS Reporting Services and Power BI).
- Highly competent in performance tuning skills to ensure optimal performance of the data warehouse pipelines, calculations, and reports.
- Candidate has a proven track record of collaborating successfully with subject matter experts, and various internal/external technical terms, during data warehouse implementation projects.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a team, as well as the maturity to work independently.
- Possess excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Candidate is process oriented with great documentation skills.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Data Engineering certifications are considered a PLUS.
