Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Data Scientist to provide exceptional data analytics to our executive team. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:
- Designs and executes quantitative and qualitative studies to 1) improve performance of the medical organic industrial base, wholesale supply operations, and internal answer operational questions.
- Gleans new insights from “big data,” applying data cleansing, machine learning, and cognitive automation as needed
- Designs, develops and implements models for industrial base operations in support of large-scale combat operations and humanitarian response
- Supports other USAMMA Directorates by designing and executing studies on operational effectiveness.
- Formulates and guides team effort and/or tasks, coordinates and incorporates the work of PM analysts and supporting organizations.
- Provides modeling support to PSMIPT medical device lifecycle cost estimates; recommends acceptance or changes to the relevant PSID Director
- Supports continuous process improvement efforts by providing modeling expertise to complement other Directorates’ functional expertise
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Relevant experience as lead developer of analytic scripts and workflows, and comfortable proposing, implementing, and adhering to data management best practices (e.g., GitHub for code versioning)
- Excellent understanding and prior experience with relational datasets, normalizations, and data modeling (i.e., should be able to identify, correct, and manage data inconsistencies by use of data modeling best practices)
- Ability to apply quantitative regression analysis: controlling for multicollinearity, properly defining the study question, identifying proxy variables, validating data, interpreting regression results, etc.
- Ability to apply qualitative case study analysis: selection of comparison cases, identification of possible bias, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Analytics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Economics (econometrics heavy), Mathematics, or related field
- Minimum 12 years’ experience as a data scientist
- Experience with applications: Python, SAP, Army Vantage (Palantir).
- Working knowledge of Python and relevant data wrangling packages (e.g., dplyr, data.table, pandas, etc.)
- Must have a active Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Travel may be sporadic (10%) for offsite assessment and key engagements with higher headquarters
- Experience as a data scientist in medical or aviation manufacturing or industrial base preferred
- Example transferrable Commercial experiences include data scientist, manufacturing data analyst, supply chain data analyst, etc.
The salary range for this position is $116,250.00- $155,000.00 annually.
