Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director Systems Integration and Development provide design construction maintenance and security of data base management systems to assure a high value widely accessible comprehensive integrated information network which meets customer needs.
Responsibilities:
Meet with personnel from user departments as well as Information Services staff and vendors to understand and resolve database issues connected with short and long-term application system plans.
Analyze application system plans to identify database administration requirements and resources.
Develop specifications and prepare project plans for database construction and maintenance.
Define database structures.
Design implement and maintain various database management systems integrating across applications.
Create and assign data element descriptors necessary for data organization access and control.
Prepare data dictionaries schemas and other documentation.
Monitor effectiveness of databases identify and resolve problems.
Train department personnel regarding use and maintenance of databases and provide technical expertise in analysis and resolution of complex problems involving data base systems.
Develop policies and procedures for documentation security control backup recovery and updating of data. Establish procedures to monitor and report compliance.
Assist in designing programming testing and installing interfaces among systems with disparate hardware and software configurations.
May manage complex Information Services multi disciplinary projects including project planning task assignment and project implementation.
Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge by attending seminars and reading professional literature.
Participate in councils quality improvement teams and other such committees as required.
Maintain quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies procedures and objectives.
Perform other related duties as required.
Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Equivalent to Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Computer Science Business Administration or a related field required. A combination of computer-related technical training and successively increasing information systems management responsibility may substitute for a degree.
EXPERIENCE:
Four years progressively responsible experience in programming systems design and data base management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in typical office environment requiring extensive sitting walking and standing.

None.
